Convert from Microsoft Home Publisher 2000
I just installed Publisher 2007 and the Office 2007 suite. I have many
documents created with Microsoft Home Publisher 2000 with .php extension. Is there a way to edit these with Publisher 2007 or convert the .php Home Publisher files to a format that can be used by any Office product? |

Convert from Microsoft Home Publisher 2000
Hi John - thanks for the info.
From what I could find on the Microsoft website, all the products you mention are discontinued. Is there a conversion utility that will convert Home Publisher files to some other supported format? OR... I just upgraded my old Windows 2000 Pro PC to a new XP Pro PC and installed all new Office products. Should I just re-install Home Publisher 2000 on my new PC? Will it work OK with XP? Will this conflict with Office 2007? "John Inzer" wrote: Steve Walters wrote: I just installed Publisher 2007 and the Office 2007 suite. Will this conflict with Office 2007? =================================== Yes...MS Home Publishing will run on Windows XP...that's your best bet if you intend to use the ..php project files. No...it will not conflict with MS Office. I suspect your new system has a large hard drive... you may want to consider installing the complete program so you will not have to search the disks when you need art. The instructions are in a readme file on disk one. There are other install tips also. Also...and this is very important...make copies of all the install disks and run the program from the copies...it is not uncommon for the disks to fail and replacements are no longer available. Scroll on down for more info... Yes...they are all discontinued...I was just listing the programs that are compatible with Home Publishing / Picture It! .php project files. It's possible that you may find a copy of one of the 2006 versions of Digital Image at an online site like Amazon or eBay. The ones to look for (all compatible with Vista BTW) a #1) "Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006" or... #2) "Microsoft Digital Image Suite Plus" (same program but includes a copy of Pinnacle Studio Ver: 10) (there is a Vista compatibility patch available for both of the above versions) MS Digital Image 2006 *Vista Compatibility* Update http://tinyurl.com/w5u58 or... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en or... #3) "Microsoft Digital Image Suite 2006 Anniversary Edition" (this version is optimized for Vista and doesn't require the patch) Sorry...but there is no way to convert a .php file into a format that is compatible with any other program that would recognize the various layers and objects. If you intend to continue using the .php files for projects and editing the individual layers and objects you will have to need a copy of one of the programs I previously listed.
