Startup Toolbar from Windows 2000
I am configuring my computer using Office XP Professional and want to add the Startup Taskbar from Office 2000. From what I have read this is a feature that was not included in Office 2003 and later but that you can still add in if you have the Office 2000 disk. I have the 2000 disk. What do I do to install the taskbar. Thanks in advance, Alan -- achidsey |

The Office Shortcut Bar feature is also on your Office XP disk.
See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325074/en-us "OFFXP: Cannot Start Office Shortcut Bar or Office Shortcut Bar Does Not Start Automatically". achidsey wrote: I am configuring my computer using Office XP Professional and want to add the Startup Taskbar from Office 2000. Startup Toolbar from Windows 2000
Office Experts,
Thank you for the response. However, the article referenced in the response doesn't match the prompts my machine gives me. The article referenced states: Step 5, "Expand Office Tools, and Step 6. Click the symbol next to Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar, and then click Run from My Computer. When I go Add Remove Programs, Office Change, it doesn't give me any way to "Expand Office Tools". Instead the dialog says, "Select the Microsoft Office 2003 applications you would like to install. Please deselect the microsoft Office 2003 apllicaitons you would like to remove." So, how do I get to an option to add the Shortcut Toolbar?? Thanks Alan The full text of the referenced article is the following: RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs. 3. Click your installation of Microsoft Office, then click Change. The setup wizard starts. 4. Click Add or Remove Features, and then click Next. 5. Expand Office Tools. 6. Click the symbol next to Microsoft Office Shortcut Bar, and then click Run from My Computer. 7. Click Update, and then click OK. -- achidsey "garfield-n-odie [MVP]" wrote: The Office Shortcut Bar feature is also on your Office XP disk. using Office XP Professional", and the referenced article does work if you have Office XP. Do you have Office XP, or do you have Office 2003? achidsey wrote: Office Experts, Thank you for the response. "Expand Office Tools"....
Reinsert the CD like you're going to install again. Choose CUSTOM. When you get to a certain point you should see little icons with plus signs next to them. Hit the plus sign next to Office Tools. (That's what they meant by "expand..."). ************ Hope it helps! Anne Troy www.OfficeArticles.com Check out the NEWsgroup stats!
