Default Saving Header

How does one save a header or footer in Word 2007?
Also is it possible to show page # inthe margin on even and odd pages?

Default Saving Header

Go to the Insert tab of the ribbon and in the Header & Footer section, use
the Header, Footer or Page Number pulldowns. Alternatively, if you double
click in the area above your text at the top of the page, it will open the
header pane and display the ribbon Header & Footer Tools Design tab.
