Default MS Office 03 Update - wrong key error

Works 8 is installed now I want to install MS Office 2003 Pro Update disk, I
get an error message that says the product key I have entered requires
existing Microsoft Office 97, 2000 or XP. This has worked previously on this
PC, before the format reload. Any help?

You are trying to install an Upgrade version of Microsoft Office but there
is no pre-existing version of Office on the computer.

Per Daddy's reply, Office 2003 only will "update" with the products listed
in the error message. Plain Works is not a qualifier but Works Suite with
Word may be.

With all due respect to LVTravel, I don't think that Word - or any single
component of Office - qualifies one to upgrade to an Office suite. That
would be like buying a set of tires and using them to upgrade to a complete
car. ;-)

DL you are correct for 2007 but the OP has 2003 which is a different
qualification requirement.

You may be totally correct as I have never used a single program to upgrade
to a suite. The reason I posted this is that in older versions of Office
suites a single program did allow installation (in some circumstances) of
the full suite.
