I just tried every single thing in that article and I still have the SAME
problem. I guess it's time to update it.

Thank you garfield, informative but it still will not put the border on

the
bottom of the page. The footer is visible but border is not it reset

itself
to be 1.15 cm but still not showing on the bottom of the page.

If you have set the border to be "from text" instead of "from edge of page"
and not to include the footer and have established a bottom margin that is
well within the printable area of the page, then this should work. If Word
is trying to enforce an unreasonable unprintable area (especially if it's
2.67" and this is an HP LaserJet), then that is a different issue.

Ugh I have been having the exact same problem.
My printer is an hp deskjet 3650 if that is any help to anyone. The bottom
prints at work but not from my home computer.

I've done what everyone has suggested and still no luck. I did notice that
it prints when the page size is set to 'letter', but not to A4.

Thanks, Eric, I have two HP Office Jets and have been struggling with this.
Ms. Vice President needs to learn her program better. This was incredibly
helpful and it resolved my issues. So it works on HP as well as Epsom!

After many happy hours trying to fix it I finally stumbled on the following

In my Printer Properties box I have an option "Minimise Margins".
Selecting this fixed the problem.
The printer is an Epsom 830U

If you want to see what the document will look like when printed on the
client's printer, you need to install the driver for that printer and set it
as the active printer. Print Preview will then tell you what you need to
know. But if you're printing the job to a printer that can't handle the
"From edge of page" setting (which is true of most inkjet printers), then
your only option is to use "From text." I don't pretend that this is ideal,
but it is the only solution available in current versions of Word. Depending
on what your content is, you might be able to put the document text in a
text box or frame that is smaller than the margin width/height (not
practical if it's more than one page).

Your response Suzanne was "clearly" uncalled for.
Your article is informative. Changing the margins in the print set up did
not help at all. I then tried to change 'pt' value on the options tab of
borders and shading and i was able to get a partial line showing but not
the
full line. I have now changed the setting to be 'from text' instead of
'edge
of page' and i have used all of the 31 pt's and after moving the footer up
the border is there but the page looks quite crowded as the border is
closer
to the text than it was with the edge of page option.
I have a concern that now the basic formatting has changed, when the
document is sent to the customer, who most likely is using a laser
printer,
the formatting will be off. Is this a concern?

I, too, am having a problem with the bottom of my footer not printing
completely. I have an HP OfficeJet and have checked everywhere in my menus,
preference, etc. but do not see Minimise Margins. Could you provide details
on where you located this option?

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

I don't think HP printers have this option. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting...sDontPrint.htm for other
approaches.

MKate,
Open any document, then do "File", then "Print", then click on "Properties",
then click on tab "Advanced", Under "Document Options", "Printer Features",
you'll see "minimize margins" "Off". Click it to "on" and you will probably
solve your problem. Ms Vice President really needs to know her products
better than she does, not sure how she got to be the VP of much of anything.
