Not installed for current user
Error message: Microsoft office has not been installed for the current user,
Please run setup to install the application" I have changed the permissions in the opt12.dat file to everyone. I don't know where to go from here. The activation wizard didn't pop up either. I've uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing is working. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. |

The way that I fixed it was to create a temp user account with admin privliages and then open all the office apps in that account. Once I had done that I just exported the office key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER and then logged off Then logged onto the other account and imported the reg key and it seemed to work for me.. give it a shot what have you got to loose. -- Iggy2005 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Iggy2005's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/iggy2005.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/office-setup/1020666.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

I am having the same difficulties - it started out of the blue today. I
guess I am not sophisticated enough to understand or implement your reply, although I am fairly expert with the applications themselves. If you have time can you elaborate on how exactly you accomplished your solution? I had tried the regedit fix and it didn't work for me so I had to delve
further. After much reading I realized that downloading a Windows UnInstaller program caused my problem. I had to do a system recovery to a point before I installed that program in order to get Office to load. Crazy. |

If you have time can you elaborate on how exactly you accomplished your solution? Yes certianly i can.. Hopefully the list of instructions in this email helps you export the Temp Account Office registry and place it into the normal account. What you need to do is login to the Temp user account, and then Goto Start Run Type Regedit then hit Enter (this will open the registry editor) On the Left Side of the window you will find HKEY_CURRENT_USER Open that, then find software Then Find microsoft Then Find Office Make sure you have the office folder selected Then in the Menu Bar goto File Then Export Save the file to C Drive (give it any file name, I just called it office fix) Once that is done you need to logout of the Temp user account, and log back into your normal account Once you are in your normal account go to the C drive and find the file that you created (will have a extension of .reg) Once you have found the file double click on it and When it asks you do you want to import this REG file into you current registy say YES. Office should be fixed for that user. If all goes well. i hope that this helps you, if you need any more help please let me know. You know it all started when I downloaded the Windows Uninstaller this AM as
well. Thanks, Iggy, I will attempt your fix. By the way, Judy, I am not familiar with recovering my system from a certain point in time - do I have to have backup disks to do that - or is it a System Tool within Accessories - or what? Thank you both for your help! "Iggy2005" wrote: gibson****;3928271 Wrote: I am having the same difficulties - it started out of the blue today. Cheers Iggy Hi Iggy, sorry I sent you an email, I just found this explanation. Well, it turned out that it did not work for me. Word is the only one that works although I still receive the same 4 warnings about some macro things. Excel, powerpoint and outlook doesnt work. The same thing "Microsoft office "name of the program" has not been installed for the current user,Please run setup to install the application" I followed all the steps and it does not work. now what?? -- violeta_co ------------------------------------------------------------------------ violeta_co's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/violeta_co.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/office-setup/1020666.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
