Outlook error after moving from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2002
Simon,
I get the exact same error that you get when you try to add and address book (which I really don't care for), but am doing it because you have to set the properties in Contacts folder for you to be able to see the addresses when typing a new email. I have not tried the option of creating a new profile etc., but looks like you have already done it. I have already done the Repair option once, that did not work, so I uninstalled and re-installed Office XP, still things dont work. The uninstall does not do a clean uninstall, it leaves traces all over, so that's why you see this error. I tried to look if they have a Office Eraser type utility, but they have this only for Office 2000. Re-installing the operating system (Win2k) seems to be the only option. ----- Roady [MVP] wrote: ----- Back to my first post I guess; Recreate your mail profile in Control Panel- Mail- button Show Profiles... If this doesn't fix it run a Repair on Office, run scanpst.exe on your pst-file and recreate your mail profile again before starting Outlook. -- Roady [MVP] www.sparnaaij.net Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office related News Also Outlook FAQ, How To's, Downloads and more... OK, Roady, I think I'm getting closer, but am not there yet. I followed your instructions below, but when I select an address book (either Outlook Address Book or Personal Address Book), I get an error saying "The account you have added is not fully configured. It might not work properly until re-configured correctly." It then takes me back to the window where I can select an address book...and get the error again. I had copied my old contacts to file before removing Office 2003 from my system. I then copied these contacts back into the Contacts folder after installing Office 2002. What should I try next? I REALLY appreciate your help! ----- Roady [MVP] wrote: ----- Alright, well you have to install the Outlook Address Book service then; Tools- E-mail Accounts- Add a new directory or address book- Additional Address Books- Outlook Address Book -- Roady [MVP] www.sparnaaij.net Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office related News Also Outlook FAQ, How To's, Downloads and more... This didn't work. When I do that, I do not have any option to change any of the items in that tab. Everything is greyed out. I am logged in as the administrator of the machine. Thanks Roady, that fixed that issue, but brought up another one. I no longer have an address book. I copied my contacts into the Contacts folder, but I'm guessing I need to tie that folder to the address book. If so, how's that done? Thanks. ----- Roady [MVP] wrote: ----- Recreate your mail profile in Control Panel- Mail- button Show Profiles... -- Roady [MVP] www.sparnaaij.net Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office related News Also Outlook FAQ, How To's, Downloads and more... I have downgraded my Outlook from 2003 to 2002 and am now getting an error when I try to open Outlook. The error tha I am getting is: The location messages are delivered to has changed for this user profile. To complete this operation, you may need to copy the contents of teh old Outlook folders to the new Outlook folders. For information about how to complete the change of your mail delivery location, see Microsoft Outlook Help. I found no help in the MS Outlook help. I am still able to see my contacts, calendar, and previous emails (from before the re-installation). Outlook will load after this error comes up, but gives an error 'The operation failed' when I try to send or receive emails. I don't know what is going on...can anyone provide some insight? Thanks. |
