Slow to open word and excel attachments
OE takes much longer to open word and excel attachements than any other
attachment. Why is this?

It has to evoke Office and run it to get the files opened.

Word and Excel files also can be scanned for viruses before they open.

I don't know what it could be. You might try clearing the Temporary Internet Files in IE and choose to delete all offline content. Office has its own area under there and I think that will clear up the office TIFs as well. That could be one source of delay. You might also try a defrag and see if that helps. If you save the attachments to disk, do they open faster for PPT then and do the others open slowly, or is it only when opening the attachments do you get the delays? steve "Gabriel van Rensburg" wrote in message ...
