So if its installed / activated now, what exactly is the problem?

As to your origonal 'wont install / errors on install' it can be the case
that pre installed free software (junk supplied by the maker) can be the
cause of issues - dvd/cd software, I believe I read with regard Dell/HP? -

The HDD from my new computer was installed into a computer which would

was
never activated on any other computer.

You mean you have installed it on another computer and activated it?
Then as it's an OEM version, it will not install on another machine and
activate. An OEM version is tied forever to the FIRST machine it is
installed on....

Hi DL,

I downloaded an Add-in offered upon completion of a MS Genuine Advantage
check was completed and immediately lost the ability to access the internet
with Outlook. I tried to restore to before the downoad but restore will not
work no matter what restore point I try. I have removed the downloaded
program using Add or Remove Programs, but Outlook is still not operating, I
can access the program but only the messages received prior to the
installation of the Add-in are available. Attempts to Send/Receive fail. My
only recourse now is to re-install Outlook and I can't do this because the
disc will not load.

I have tried the fixes suggested in Office Solutions but to no avail.

Did you download Genuine Advantage as a result of MS Update or what?
I've never seen the Genuine Advantage Tool require / offer any add-in
What exactly was this add-in?
What did you remove from add/remove dialogue?
Uninstalling / reinstalling Outlook is unlikely to cure anything.

The genuine advantage dialogue box appeared which explained that from time to
time a check would be done to determin whether the program was genuine and
asking if I would like to participate. Its the first time I have had this
come up so I thought it was a new check and pressed the "yes" button. upon
completion another dialogue box appeared explaining the benefits of genuine
advantage, and it was from this screen that I selected a link and found the
Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager. It was this program which I
removed using "Add/Remove programs".

I must confess I've never noticed any links from Genuine Advantage, I find
it somewhat odd that the GA tool hasnt been downloaded before, since its
been out for some years.
Have you not been using Windows Update or MS Update? is your PC not set to
either install critical updates or download and notify?

If you had Office 2003 Pro which comes with Outlook 2003 & BCM, though it
maybe that BCM was not installed, from recollection its on the second disk,
for you to have removed Outlook 2003 with BCM you would have had to modify
the MS Office installation from the Add/Remove dialogue.
So where the entry for Outlook 2003 came from in Add/remove dialogue I
cannot say.

If your OEM disk will not run try this:
start msconfig, disable all startups, then in Services, hide all ms services
and disable the rest.
Then reboot your PC, accepting the configeration msg.
Then try your cd

I have been using Windiws and Office update to download and notfy critical
updates.
I tried your suggestion but still no go. As before I am asked to enter the
key and when I hit the button there is a long delay, the ROM & HDD lights are
on but the ROM doesn't sound to be running, then the error message appears:

Script: D:\autorun.vhs
Line: 12
Char: 1
Error: .\Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application
Code: 800700C1
Scource: WshShell.Exec

Default Office 2003 Pro OEM

I have Office 2007 Home & Student installed on my Windows XP Home computer.
But, I needed to be compatible with work which uses Office 2003. I
purchased Office 2003 OEM with some hardware as is required and tried to
install on the computer after uninstalling Office 2007. Upon inserting the
CD, I was prompted to enter the key code. Then I got the following message
as well:

Windows Script Host
Script: E\autorun.vbs
Line: 12
Char: 1
Eror: \setup.exe is not valid Win32 application
Code: 800700C1
Source: WshShell.Exec

This CD has not been installed on any other computer. What could be wrong?

Since Office 2007 can save docs in old format, what compatibility are you
referring to?

From recollection you are not required to enter any product key, until some
period after the installation has commenced.

I agree with Mitch. You are asked to enter the key first up even on the
computers which will run the program.
Mitch can I ask what operating system, Motherboard and CPU you are using?

Default Problem installing Office 2003 Pro OEM

I am experiencing the exact same problems installing Office 2003 Pro OEM as was discussed here in April 2009.

My laptop has preinstalled trial version of Office 2007, but I would prefer to use Office 2003. With add/remove programs, I've removed all Office 2007 applications, but not the Office 2007 installation program.

When the new Office 2003 Pro OEM disk is loaded I am asked to enter the product key and when I hit the button there is a long delay, the ROM & HDD lights are on but the ROM doesn't sound to be running, then the error message appears:

Script: D:\autorun.vhs
Line: 12
Char: 1
Error: .\Setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application
Code: 800700C1
Scource: WshShell.Exec

What should I do to resolve??? Thanks
