Hi mutty,

You are not entitled to install Office 2003 Pro OEM on any computer other than the one it came with. For a non-OEM licence, there
are also restrictions on hown many & what kinds of computers Office 2003 Pro can be installed on - read the EULA.

Yes macropod I am aware of that, and only intend installing on one bue the
error is the same on other machines that is why I thought I would try other
installs too see if it was this particular system, the error is the same,
still unable to find out what the error really means!

Hi Mutty,

A number of anti-virus packages interfere with the installation process. Make sure your's isn't running when you do the install.

Thanks macropod! Tried all that no avail, been persisting with it, now know
it is the Microsoft media causing the problem, something to do with their
newer disks, I now know of another 4 people with same problem, some roms read
others do not, so you need to get a rom that reads it! Crazy stuff though,
roms work fine with all other cd's, so to save someone having the same
frustrations as I have had with this the solution is easy, place in rom do
not load, go explore and see if the Microsoft cd sign with flag is there if
so it will load fine, if not it refuses too load, you need to find a rom that
works with this media!
Good Luck to you all

Hi mutty,

In that case, it could be a hardware problem - a scratched/dirty CD and/or a CD reader that's at the limits of the alignment specs.

Default Office 2003 Pro OEM

Hi Mutty,
I am having exactly the same problem trying to load Office 2003 Pro OEM. The
problem in my case appears to be the Asus P5KPL-CM motherboard with Intel
Core 2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz. The disk will load OK with the same ROM,
etc. and other Asus motherboards with Intel P4 CPU.
I did get it to load to my HDD through another computer verified it with
Microsoft and it worked fine. My Outlook is currently giving me problems and
I cannot re-install

You mean you have installed it on another computer and activated it?
Then as it's an OEM version, it will not install on another machine and
activate. An OEM version is tied forever to the FIRST machine it is
installed on....

Hi Gordon,
The HDD from my new computer was installed into a computer which would read
the disk, the program was installed onto my HDD which was the re-installed
into my computer. The program was then activated on my new computer. It was
never activated on any other computer.

System Details:

OS: Windows XP Pro SP3.
Error message: Same as Mutty's
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz
Motherboard: Asus P5KPL-CM.
