I have the same problem. I have tried Office Plus, Visio, SharePoint
Designer... each installation end the same way. I try to read the installation log but can't get much out of it. /Patrik "desrew" skrev: When I install I keep getting this error: Error 1706 - Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the network or CD-Rom drive. THX |

Office 2007 beta 2 Setup Error
Patrik,
Does searching the file for "ERR" or "Failed" turn up anything that looks meaningful? Andrew Watt MVP On Wed, 24 May 2006 13:35:02 -0700, Patrik Jonsson wrote: I have the same problem. Office 2007 beta 2 Setup Error
I get the same problem. I was initially not even able to get to the
initial installation screen (where it asks you to enter your License Key) because I'd reallocated my Temp folder to a non-standard partition (F. When I changed that to the more standard directory under Documents and Settings I was able to start installing. But now I get the same error as here. I tried switching My Documents back from the partition it was assigned to thinking it might have been a similar problem, but no luck. Dan |

The resource 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WDBIMP.DLL' does not exist. Patrik Patrik, I'm afraid I can't shed light on that error other than saying that the WDBIMP.dll should be there. Is it there in your folder structure? One suggestion. Try running Setup but select the advanced option and try only installing one product. That may allow you to get something installed but I'm not sure which installs depend on that DLL. Andrew Watt MVP |

Problem solved
I uninstalled Desktop Search, it has been crashing for me several times since
I installed an update for it (may have been a beta-version) and the installation worked perfectly! Although I chose to uninstall previous versions of Office (2003 in my case), it seems that it has been left intact on my computer, but I can live with a manual uninstall. I hope this solution works for the rest of you with the same problem. /Patrik "Andrew Watt [MVP]" wrote: On Thu, 25 May 2006 01:35:02 -0700, Patrik Jonsson wrote: Checked the Event Log and this error is logged for every attempt to install: Detection of product '{30120000-0051-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}', feature 'ProductFiles', component '{AC465B11-708A-496C-BA7E-0344CD0915B6}' failed. Office 2007 beta 2 Setup Error
I'm glad I am not the only one experiencing this problem.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen any resolutions to the problem. Has any managed to fix this? I have tried everything short of re-installing the base OS. I had no issues with the Office 2007 Pre-Release. Regards, Jesse desrew wrote: When I install I keep getting this error: Error 1706 - Setup cannot find the required files.
