More alternatives to text boxes.
I have just tried to post this in reply to an earlier post
but there was a transport error. I need to put text into boxes but: The text box function requires manually placing what will end up being hundreds of boxes all with the same properties, with no option to change them en masse if I change my mind later about borders, background pictures etc. Auto text does not seem to be able to offer any more than just creating a template which I can use later on but which still involves manual placing. Tables do not result in individual boxes separated by white space (where I need to cut the paper to create individual boxes). Also, tables automatically resize when too much text is put in them. I need all my boxes to be of uniform size. Is there a way to do this so that, after I have typed all the contents of the boxes, I could get MS Word 2000 to change all the properties automatically if I were not happy with the result? |

This sounds suspiciously like mailing labels to me - You could create a
custom label format - this will give you table cells of fixed size, and if you set the label width and height to less than the pitch measurements you can create space between the labels. Table cells resize only if you allow them to. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP Web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site www.mvps.org/word David Young wrote: I have just tried to post this in reply to an earlier post but there was a transport error. More alternatives to text boxes.
Hi David,
You might also check out framed styles. You can set their height to "Exactly xx", and changing the style (borders, space before/after ...) will instantly change all boxes. One drawback is that Word puts consecutive paragraphs in some framed style in the same frame/box. So you may need to use empty non-framed paragraphs "between" the boxes, which isn't terribly nice.
