How to deploy PIAs with ORK?
What is the best way to deploy the primary interop assemblies for office in
an existing managed office environment? Do I have to amend a MST file as part of admin installation point? Will this reinstall the entire the office system or just the update? Thanks, Tad p.s. I am a developer but I need to provide IT shop the best options to deploy the PIAs as a prereq to my app. |

How to deploy PIAs with ORK?
Hi Tad,
What version of Office are you working on? MST files aren't used in Office 2007 and in Office 2000, Office XP and Office 2003 an MST file is used for the initial deployment of a specific .MSI based product, so where the Office Primary Interop Assemblies are a separate installation then an MST file would be appropriate. You can use a .CMW (Custom Maintenance Wizard) file/tool (see the Office 2003 resource Kit at http://microsoft.com/office/ork) to modify an existing installation of an Office product. ================ "Tadwick" wrote in message ... How to deploy PIAs with ORK?
Thanks, Bob - My main goal is to provide as much info to IT shops as
possible. My app is written with VSTO so it needs to support Office 2003 and 2007. I can distribute MS packages for Office 2003 and 2007 PIAs but the Office 2003 PIAs don't lend themselves well to group policy deployment. The PIAs are included in default Office installations as "install on first use" but I need them already installed before my own msi package can be run. I will read up on the CMW.
