Default Activating/converting trial suite to a different suite

I've got 3 computers that came with the Office trial that has Access, Excel,
Powerpoint, Word and Outlook. I've bought Office Home and Student but the
product key will not work. I was hoping it would disable Outlook and Access
and let me use the rest of the suite. Do I need to uninstallthe existing
suite, and install from the disk I've got, on all three of these computers?

Thanks

Yes, you need to uninstall the trial versions of Office
and install your version of Office with the CD.

Product keys know which version they are meant for. Yiu need to uninstall
the trial, reboot, and then install the purchased version.

My Home & Student Office trial just expired and docs I created with it will
only allow me to view and print - I can't edit or copy the files. Must I buy
Home & Student to edit etc my files? If I don't buy and uninstall Home &
Student, will I get my editing functions back on these Home and Student docs?
Will I lose my files? Some stores have Home and Student for less money than
Microsofts website. Can I regain control of the files I created with the
Home and Student trial if I purchase Home and Student from a store? Thanks
much for your help.

Yes, you must buy some edition of Office to be able to edit your files.
No, you will not get full function back in those applications unless you pay
for the programs.
No, you will not lose those files.
Yes, you will be able to edit them again after you purchase some edition of
Office and install it.

Please note: You will be doing yourself a great favor if you uninstall the
trial version before installing the paid version. No, you will not lose your
files in doing so.

Nowhere on the trial version that I could see was there mention that I had to
un-install and then install another version of Office to maintain continuity,
in fact your own web based help seems to suggest that you can convert a trial
version to a full version, see
http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/pr...759641033.aspx . Having to
endure 75 minutes on a phone to try to remedy this rather crazy way of doing
things I had to vent my feelings

It's not *my* webhelp. If it were, it would strongly advise that you
uninstall trial versions first. Maybe in theory you don't have to uninstall
it but in the real world, it's strongly advised.
