How do I get rid of this checked background in Word 2003.
It shows only in the third mode (view menu - third alternative)

If you do have time and interest to help me I could send you a screenshot of
this problem.

I'm guessing that by "checked" you mean the grid of horizontal and vertical
lines. Click View Toolbars Drawing to display the Drawing toolbar. Click
the Draw button at the left end of the toolbar, and choose Grid from the
menu. In the dialog, uncheck the option "Display gridlines on screen" and
click OK. You can click View Toolbars Drawing again to turn off the
toolbar.

Thank you very much. I thought I've tried everything. I wonder how we got it
there.

Thank You
