Default 'From' address heading in Outlook Express

In Outlook Express I have an account set up ) which has a
forwarder ) directing mail to it. Is it possible for
me to reply to e-mail received via the forwarder using the forwarder e-mail
address ) in the 'From' box rather than the account
name ) e-mail address - if so how do I set up Outlook
Express to show as being the source e-mail address?
Thank you.

If you have more than one mail account set up in OE, then the From box
becomes a drop down box and lets you select alternate addresses.

The From information comes from the General tab for the account. If
you are still going to retrieve the mail via Yahoo, then on the General
tab for the new account you do NOT want to check the Include this
account when receiving mail. On the Servers tab, you need to use the
same SMTP settings as for the existing account. The POP3 settings don't
matter as long as they are of the valid format since you wont be
receiving mail via this account. They may as well be the same as your
existing account.

If the ) allows the option of accessing the mail
directly (e.g. via POP3 or IMAP) rather than having it forwarded to
Yahoo, then you have another option. You could get up OE to retrieve
the mail directly. This has the advantage that replies to those message
will automatically select that for the From rather than Yahoo.

Default 'From' address heading in Outlook Express

Thank you for your prompt response to my enquiry - I have done as you suggest
but now I find that having in Account Properties, the General tab, changed
the "E-mail address" from ' to ' I
cannot send e-mail. I get the following error message - "The message could
not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The
sender's e-mail address was '. Subject 'test',
Account: 'PCS ARM's South West:', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '553 From: address not verified; see
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/edit/alternate_email/index.html', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC78".
Any ideas as to what is wrong?
Best wishes.

Sure. In Account Properties, the General tab, just change the "E-mail
address" from ' to '.

Default 'From' address heading in Outlook Express

I am very grateful to you for replying to my query. I have done as you
suggested, this has indeed changed the 'From' name but I now have a problem
sending any e-mail - I keep being asked for my user name and password neither
of which have changed. I get the following error message - The message could
not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The
sender's e-mail address was '. Subject ' test',
Account: 'PCS ARM's South West:', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '553 From: address not verified; see
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/edit/alternate_email/index.html', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC78.

I hope you may be able to help me with this additional problem.

Thank you.

The problem may be the use of a SMTP (outgoing) server other than the one
provided by your ISP. Most ISP's do not allow the use of another server when
they have no means to authenticate the sender. You may need to contact your
provider for help with the issue. A workaround would be to use the SMTP
(outgoing) server of your ISP.
