Making a text box translucent
Any ideas on how to make the color or fill in a text box translucent?
I have a photo - converted it to B&W and then gave it a tint (yellow) (did this in another program) dropped the tinted photo into my publisher doc. I would now like to lay a text box at the top of the photo (corners aligned) and have the text "float" on top of the image. But I want the text background a little more densly colored than "no fill" (as the photo details would make the text harder to read). But, I don't want to completely "fill" the text box with the solid color either because then the image looks a little boxey and flat. Any tips are greatly appreciated. |

Making a text box translucent
Hi Mary,
I figured out how to set the "tint" to 50% but where is "transparency"? thanks. "Mary Sauer" wrote: Fill the text box with light yellow, set the transparency to around 50%. Printers are all different, some will band the text box fill, others do okay. If I set my printer to the best output it looks okay. -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Help a Florida Friend" Help a Florida wrote in message ... was very recently heard to utter: I figured out how to set the "tint" to 50% but where is "transparency"? What version of Publisher are you using? -- Ed Bennett - MVP Microsoft Publisher http://ed.mvps.org/ |

What version Publisher are you using? The transparency feature is only available in Publisher 2002-03. If you have a photo editing program, create a rectangle and set the transparency, save as a ..gif, insert the results and place it on top your photo. -- Mary Sauer MSFT MVP http://office.microsoft.com/ http://msauer.mvps.org/ news://msnews.microsoft.com "Help a Florida Friend" wrote in message ... If you have a photo editing program, create a rectangle and set the transparency, save as a .gif, insert the results and place it on top your photo. GIF transparency has two levels - transparent and not transparent. You could do the same thing in Publisher by creating a rectangle and setting it to filled with solid colour or no fill. -- Ed Bennett - MVP Microsoft Publisher http://ed.mvps.org/ |

No transparency I guess. I'll try the other option. guess it's time to upgrade. Use the paint bucket tool to select the color or gradient, then set your fill
transparency, i.e., 5%, 9%, 40% or however much color density you want. You'll still be able to see your photo behind the text box.
