Default Cannot select objects

We enable the "Select Objects" feature (Home Tab Find & Select), but can
never select multiple activeX controls (checkboxes) by dragging the mouse.
The selection extent (marquee) can be dragged around the objects, but it
will not select them. The selection pane option is no better because we
cannot drag over multiple selections, nor manually extend (SHIFT-Select)
selectons, in the selection pane either.

The only way we can make multiple selections is by CTRL-Selecting objects on
the worksheet or in the selection pane. Any suggestions why we cannot
drag-select our controls?

I tested in xl2003...

Try going into design mode. An icon on the developer's tab|insert group|activeX
section (if I recall correctly).

I'm betting that xl2007 is like xl2003. You can't select the activex objects
unless you're in design mode.

(I added the Select Objects icon in the Drawing category in the
tools|Customize|Commands tab dialog to do my test.)

Default Cannot select objects

Hello Dave,

Unfortunately, we have already tried this variation (the button is on the
developer tab in the 2007 ribbon) without success. Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Richard

Well, maybe one more.

Try it again.

Default Cannot select objects

Hello Dave,

Please note that our testing has now revealed that it is possible to perform
a group selection by dragging the mouse cursor, provided the objects are
graphics. However, if the objects are controls, then we cannot use this
feature. That is very odd since the group select option has as much utility
when selecting controls as with graphic objects. We continue to be
mystified as to why the user cannot drag and select a group of controls.

Thanks,
Richard

I don't have any other guesses.

Sorry.
