In OE6, when I open an attachment it automatically places a shortcut to the
document on my desktop.

How can I stop OE6 doing this?

Thanks

Please state your full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3; Win2K SP4) when
posting to this newsgroup.

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Is your anti-virus application configured to scan incoming and outgoing
mail?

Has a Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this machine
(e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?

1. Disable email scanning entirely.

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm

2a. Download the Norton Removal Tool, saving it to your desktop:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039

2b. Close all open applications (i.e., anything with a taskbar icon).

2c. Double-click on the saved file to run the tool. Don't touch your
keyboard until the run completes, then reboot.

I have the same problem as spotted-jaguar

I run WinXP SP3 and I have McAfee Security Center 9.3

This problem only started to occur within the last month or so, although
perhaps I just didn't notice it until lately (I've had more attachments
lately).

thanks.

To avoid confusion, please begin a new thread about your specific problems,
Patrick. State your IE version and full Windows version (e.g., WinXP SP3;
Vista SP2) in your first post.
