"Error importing to the address book"
I'm trying to import a csv file, (.txt) into my address book, but the
process only gets about halfway through when the error message appears, "Error importing to the address book." I have imported many address lists this way in the past, but now it's not going through to completion. It's not the "Read-only" problem, as I already checked that. I've cleaned out all temporary files and compacted everything, but still no good. Is there something I can change in the registry to fix this? Thanks |

Try creating a new wab file (Start/Run and type: WAB /new and give it a
name and location to save to) and try the import from CSV into it. If it works as you wish, you can make a registry edit to make the new WAB file the default. Yes, the new wab file works fine. But, as I have no experience in
editing the registry, I can't seem to change the default to the new one. I go into regedit, and find the right key (under wab4) and then highlight it on the right, and then change the value to the new wab's name, but when I close regedit, it reverts right back to the original default. That suggests some type of malware on your system. I'd invest in a good
antivirus scanner, such as Panda for starters. Panda Softwa Antivirus ActiveScan: http://www.pandasoftware.com/product...ACHEHINT=Guest Follow that with the below list: Checking for/Help with Hijackware http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=5878 http://wiki.castlecops.com/Malware_R...:_Introduction http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/data/prevention.htm http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/tshoot.html http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/Malware_Defence.htm http://defendingyourmachine.blogspot.com/ http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1 (http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use. It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post your log to http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22, http://castlecops.com/forum67.html, http://forums.subratam.org/index.php?showforum=7, http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or other appropriate forums for expert analysis, not here.** -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Windows version? Is MS Office and/or Outlook also installed?

"Error importing to the address book"
There is no evidence of any malware on this computer. I'm using Windows
XP, and I believe MS Office is installed, but not Outlook (just Outlook Express 6.0). As to "move it to the same folder as the old one..."--is this supposed to be done in the Registry Editor, or in Windows Explorer? Still trying to figure this out.
