Huh?

I'd suggest asking a friend who is a bit more computer-savvy to help you.

What you are talking about is what Word calls an "online form." Check this
in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at

Chapman's series of articles. You may also want to look at

What?! The OP wants to know how to open a file from a floppy. That's your
*other* chunk of boilerplate!

Thank you, Suzanne. I know it's late but I didn't think I was THAT
bleary-eyed.

Can you tell us the file extension (i.e., .txt, .doc, .jpg) of the
floppy disk file you wish to open?

If you want to be able to use your documents, when working within Word, act
as if your floppy drive does not exist! (This applies to CDRW/CDR drives as
well.)
Don't use Word to:
Open a document on a floppy
Print a document on a floppy
Edit a document on a floppy
Save a document to a floppy (not even a copy)

Word regularly trashes documents on floppy drives!

Instead, work on the document using your hard drive. Copy it back and forth
using Windows.

I know that for some with shared computers (libraries, schools) this is a
tough prescription. All I can recommend for that is to use a brand new
formatted disk each time you save and don't do any editing.

I believe that would entail putting the disk in a drive and opening
Explorer (or some variant), and then transferring the file to the hard
drive. There are some limits, you know, as to what posters can be
expected to do...

Blessed be, for sure...
