Default Publisher 2000 Version 6.0 has stopped working

Sometimes when I'm working on Publisher files, this message pops up in a box,
along with "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows
will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I have to
click on the "Close Program" button, which closes the program, but when I try
to reopen the file, it says "The file is locked because it is currently being
used by another program. Please close the other program and then try opening
or importing the file again." Also, there is a TMP file created, that
corresponds in date modified with the file I had been working on. All I can
do is delete the TMP file, and then restart my comptuer, and then it finally
lets me open the file, but I lose any changes I had made since my last save.
What can I do to either stop Publisher from closing, or else recover my most
recently updated file? Do you think using Microsoft Vista has anything to do
with this? I never had this problem on my old computer. Any help that
anyone can give will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

What happens if you select a different printer? Publisher 2000 looks for a
printer driver when you open the program. If the driver is corrupt you will get
an error similar to the one you are experiencing. Go to the web site of your
model and look around for an updated driver. If there isn't one reinstall the
one you have. It is always wise to completely remove a driver before
installing/reinstalling.
