Deleting works
Hello,
I just bought a brand new Dell. In my error I asked for it to be shipped with XP home edition thinking that I would get word, excel, powerpoint, outlook but no access which I use infrequently and have on my laptop anyway. To my horror I didn't get any of these programs instead getting MS Works which I find to be useless and not even really compatible with Office - the formatting is different between documents etc. I am going to buy, at considerably more expense, the latest edition of Office but don't want the old works even on my computer taking up space. I have found in the past that once installed these programs are notoriously difficult to get rid of. How does one completely uninstall works in order to install office? Do you uninstall works first? or install office then uninstall works? Any help gratefully received Thanks |

Deleting works
Liamo,
As you have found out Works is not Office. You can uninstall from add/remove programs. If you search the group on oem or pre-installed Office software you will find many posts on problems concerning this. You will be much better off with your very own in posession Office software. Check here to see if your version of Works qualifies you to purchase an Office 2003 upgrade: http://www.microsoft.com/office/edit...on127121120120 If so you will need to keep your version of Works installed to upgrade to Office 2003. Best option is to purchase a full version, this way you will be able to upgrade to the next version of Office much easier if you ever want or need to. |
