Default Office XP Professional Product Key

I have Office XP on a laptop. We just bought a desktop
and I would like to put it on there also, however I can
not find my product key. I did the look up thing that the
microsoft site told me to do but the product id that it
gave me from the laptop is about 5 characters too short
for the product key that it is asking for. What do I do?

Not necessary - read the EULA...

Meep - You need to read it again. Pay attention to the term "exclusive
use".

Not so...it states that the user may install it on their laptop for use away
from the office. But both systems cannot be using it at the same time. At
least it *used* to...and since I've actually done this on the phone with MS
for activation of the second install, it seems likely that it's still okay.

It actually sounds like we're both right. It still does say you can install
on a PC and a laptop as long as it's used exclusively by the primary user.
In the original post, he said it was on his laptop first and wants to
install on his PC. Since he said "we just bought a PC" that indicates it
will be used by others (most likey family members). Technically, this would
be a EULA violation (not that anyone really cares).
