Default Today's Date Highlighted

Is there a way to customize the way that the calendar highlights "today's"
date. the little gray bar in the month view isn't pronounced enough. I'd
like the whole box to be outlined to really stick out.

I see you got a "no" on this but can you tell me how to

even get the little gray bar, as I haven't got any
highlight at all on "today" date? Thanks for your help.
