Default Automatic reading of EMail

I would like to set up an application automatically "read" emails. We have a
set customer base that sends notifications via email when they order our
services (to the tune of 30 - 90 emails a day). Our current process is to
manually open these emails, print them to an image file (using Paperport)
then a hard copy. THe hard copy is then used to manually key the order in to
up to 3 different places.

I know that if I can 'scrape' the data from the email that I can push it
into the apps where need be. Anyone know how I can accomplish this? Is the
email actually a text file that I can open individually from another app?
