Style, font and font size disappeared
Yes, I remember Office 4.3 suite needed a forklift when delivered and its
own shelf of a cupboard to store it all! Terry "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote in message ... I also started with WordStar but was mostly using WordPerfect when I started with (initially) Word for Windows 2.0. I found Word so much more intuitive from the outset that I don't recall needing much of a manual, but Word 2.0 (and Word 6.0) both came with rather complete manuals. Actually, Word 2.0 came with not only a thick manual for the whole app but also smaller manuals for Graph, Equation Editor, and Draw, as well as a Quick Results Guide. Those were the days! -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft MVP (Word) Words into Type Fairhope, Alabama USA http://word.mvps.org |

Office for Windows 95 was the first suite I had, and it was OEM and came
with no manual, so I bought a third-party book, which was just as useless as most books are that try to cover all Office apps between two covers. -- Suzanne S. You're right there. Those combo books were usually 'jack of all trades,
master of none'. I'm sure that with the retail Office 4.3 suite, apart from the obvious install Quick Guide, all the other apps were in separate manuals - rather like the suite! Terry "Suzanne S. Hi Herb,
Yes, Terry's suggestion worked. Xywrite was fun because even a novice (me) could create applets. I seem to have set off a thread of remembrances and nostalgia. Good luck, Dan S "Herb Tyson [MVP]" wrote in message ... Wow... now there's a blast from the past! So... am I correct in inferring that your problem was solved via Terry's suggestions? -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Daniel Schaffer" wrote in message ... Thanks to all who replied. No, I haven't switched to Word 2007 yet, but I also know how often significant information is omitted in newsgroups. I look forward to using Herb's book on Word 2007. I actually go back to Herb's work on Xywrite. Good luck, Dan S "Herb Tyson [MVP]" wrote in message ... Yeah, well... having worked the newsgroups for over a decade, we both know how often significant pieces of information are actually included. ;-) -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Terry Farrell" wrote in message ... Possibly. But I'd hope that significant piece of information would have been included... Terry "Herb Tyson [MVP]" wrote in message ... Either that... or he's switched to Word 2007, in which case, all is not lost: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com/2...more-familiar/ -- Herb Tyson MS MVP Author of the Word 2007 Bible Blog: http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com Web: http://www.herbtyson.com "Terry Farrell" wrote in message ... Either you have turned off the Toolbar or you have Adaptive menus selected. Look under View Toolbars to see that the correct Toolbars are checked. Then right-click on a toolbar, select Properties and change the settings to Display all Menus turning of the crazy adaptive feature. -- Terry Farrell - MSWord MVP "Daniel Schaffer" wrote in message ... Hi, I'm a long-time user of Word 2003. I've always noticed the style used, font used and size of font being shown at the top of the page. Now they've all disappeared. How can I get them back? Thanks in advance, Dan S |
