Default error bars

I am graphing the average height of students in grades 1, 2, & 3. I want error bars to represent the Std. Dev. of the height of the averages. I can get is the error bars to represent the overall Std. Dev. of all data. I tried the custom but again the error bars are put on for the overall Std Dev.

Can you place error bars that are different for each of the bars?

Default error bars

Let's say the x-values (grade categories 1,2,...) are in A2:A4, the y-values
(average heights) are in B2:B4
In C2:B4 enter the StdDev for each group
Make chart from A:B value
Right click data series in chart, select Format Data Series from popup menu;
open Y-Error Bar tab
In Custom + enter C2:C4; ditto in Custom -
Done
Come back if my instructions are too cryptic
