I just got Publisher 2007 and Im completely lost. Im used to working with
FrontPage but have been advised to switch by my provider in spite of my
personal feelings about it.

I got my page all built but cant figure out how to publish it to my already
established website.

Thank you for your help, its probably very simple if you know how to do it.

There is no need to switch from FrontPage to Publisher to build your
website, in spite of what your 'provider' told you. In fact, though I am the
first one to defend the use of Publisher to build websites under some
circumstances, I would highly recommend that you do not make the switch.

I am assuming that your 'provider' is your web host, and what they have said
is that they are no longer going to provide support for 'frontpage server
extensions', but this does not mean that you cannot continue to use FP. If
you have been using HTTP uploading protocol which is dependent upon FPSE,
you can switch to FTP uploading. If you have a 'forms' page or something
else that is dependent upon FPSE, there are alternatives. And for that
matter if the only issue is FPSE, then you could switch to a host that still
supports FPSE if you have to. There are many windows based web hosts that
will continue to support FPSE for at least several more years, and switching
hosts would be easier and a better choice than switching programs in my
opinion.

Bottom line is though some web hosts are no longer offering FPSE and that
FrontPage, the program, has been discontinued in favor of Expression Web and
SharePointe, there is probably no reason you cannot keep using FrontPage. I
would suggest posting about this issue in a FrontPage group and get help on
the specifics of how to keep using FP. One such group is
microsoft.public.frontpage.client . Just tell the group what your 'provider'
said and who is your web host, tell them what version of FP your are using,
give them a link to your web site, and ask them if you can keep using FP and
how.

With that said, if you decide that you still want to move to Publisher, then
read the following reference and if you still have problems repost in the
Publisher web group microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign and we will help
you there.

Rather than switch the software you're using (Publisher is not a
particularly good program to use in building websites), you'd be better
off switching your hosting company to one that still supports FrontPage.

Don't...if you publish a Publisher created website to and existing one
create by FP, you'll muck up the FP site.
As others say...you can still use FP even if your host discontinues use of
FPSE you'll just have to learn how.
