Default Line problems

I've created a booklet and have two strange things that keep happing.
1. I’ve drawed a vertical line border and change the end to a triangle.
However when I save and re open it the end of each line has changed to an
arrow.

2. The same vertical line is visible on all pages, if I do a print preview
and can see the line but when I print it only print the line on some pages,
the outer pages don’t have a line.

The line is in the background on the master page but it's not helping.
