Default Outlook Settings

I have Microsoft Office Pro 2000. When I try to open
Outlook I get this message: "Network problems are
preventing connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server
computer. Contact your system administrator if this
condition persists." This is a home PC and I am not
connected to any other computer. My settings are POP3 and
the mailbox is mail.comcast.net. Is there some settings
that I need to make before I can open Outlook? Thanks for
any help.
