Auto Expanding Merged Cells
Hi
this is one of several merge cell drawbacks. No real workaround available. Try avoiding merged cells! -- Regards Frank Kabel Frankfurt, Germany John wrote: Can anyone tell me how to have excel auto expand merged cells. Right now I have a bunch of merges cells and when you type and it word wraps it doesn't auto expand the cell. Is there something I could do to fix this. |

Auto Expanding Merged Cells
i had a similar problem. the only solution is to run a macro after all
such cells have been filled. i used a macro available from one of the websites that is very popular out here (i think it was either contextures or something else). i tweaked it to fit my purpose. if you are interested in such a solution, i can paste the code here. mac. --- Message posted from http://www.ExcelForum.com/ |

Auto Expanding Merged Cells

Merged cells will allow "wrap text" from FormatCellsAlignment but.......... Excel has a problem auto-fitting merged cells. You can resize manually or via Macro. Jim Rech has written code for this. http://groups.google.com/groups?thre...%40tkmsftngp05 Note also a recent adaptation of this code by Greg Wilson. http://makeashorterlink.com/?P37D24B15 The best cure is DON"T USE MERGED CELLS. They cause no end of problems with copying, pasting, sorting, filtering.
