Default Outlook won't open

I installed office XP pro over office 2003 basic.
Outlook would not open, so I uninstalled office 2003,
still same result. uninstalled XP, ensured all office
items removed, then reinstalled XP pro. Still getting
same error. "Unable to open your default e-mail
folders. Could not open the item. Try again." This
message will occur every time I try to send or receive,
or open the program. I know the pop and smtp settings
are correct. Thanks

Do you have an Exchange server or just regular Internet mail? Do you
perhaps have an Exchange Server mailbox listed as your default data store?
