Default How to stop Word from double spacing when I don't type all the way to the end of a line?

Hello:

I'm drafting legal briefs. Thus, I'll have something like:

Citation: XXX

Postu XXX

Facts: XXX

The problem is that, when I just step out a few Words and press Enter, as
opposed to typing all the way to the right margin of the page, Word
automatically inserts a double space. How do I get rid of this feature?

Thank you,

John

For Word 2003 or earlier: Click Format, Paragraph, Indents and Spacing.
Make sure Spacing Before and After are set to 0 pt and Line spacing: is set
to Single.

For Word 2007, click Page Layout on the ribbon, ensure that Spacing before
and after are set to 0 pts. The only problem here is that by default this
setting won't be saved. To save the 0 pts and single line spacing as the
default directly under "After" to the right of the word Paragraph, there is
a small down, right point arrow. Click that. In the window that opens set
the defaults like that listed for Word 2003, Click the Default button on the
bottom of the window, click Yes to the message about changing defaults and
then OK out.

Hope this helps, let us know.
