Default Importing contacts to new computer

I was using Outlook 2003 on my old XP computer and bought a new computer,
Vista using Outlook 2007. I went through the data transfer and found the
contacts in the contact folder, but when I try to convert the contacts to an
address book, nothing happens. I have gone to Account Settings and Address
book and added the Outlook Address Book, but I go back to contacts/properties
and try to make the contact list an address book, it is grayed out. Also, I
can not remove the Outlook Address book from the Account Settings. How can I
resolve this?

State what "I went through the data transfer" means. You most likely did it
wrong and created a corrupt Outlook profile. If so, you'll need to start
over with a brand new profile.

Default Importing contacts to new computer

I transferred data two ways - first to move all of my data from my old
computer which included the Outlook information. Then I copies all of the
Outlook Contact information to my external hard drive and they copied that to
the Personal Folders. All of the information shows up under "Contacts", I
just can not convert it to the Address Book. As I mentioned, I can not
remove the Outlook Address Book under Account settings. If I need to start
over - do I uninstall Outlook and reinstall and do the data transfer for
outlook by copying?

I transferred all of the data on my computer via a cable transfer. I then
opened up Outlook "Contacts" and all of my data was there. I went to Account
Settings (under tools) and added the Outlook Address Book. Then went to
Contacts again and right clicked on my contact list then properties. I
clicked on Outlook Address Book tab & the box to add contacts as an address
book is grayed out. I tried again to remove the Outlook Address Book from
the Account Settings and can not do so. It only allows me to add or change.
If I restart, do I uninstall Outlook and add my data via the copy function?

You've posted three different methods. So which of these three methods did
you actually use? If you used Windows Easy Transfer, then your Outlook
Profile is corrupt and you must create a new one. If you copied your PST
file, then how did you connect it to your current profile? You can't just
copy a file to connect it. You must open it in Outlook to connect it.
You must then configure the Outlook Address Book Service to have it appear
it your Address Book view:
