Default Extra Page Sent When Using Windows XP Fax Console

When I scan in a document and send it as a fax using XP Fax, My
computer sends an extra blank (except for the time/date banner) page.
This happens, both if I use a cover page, or not. If I fax a file such
as Word or Excel, (scanner nor used) no extra page is sent. Can anyone
tell me how to eliminate this extra page?

By which method are you sending the fax?

I,m sending the fax using my scanner/printer program. It is an Epson
and I use their "scan to fax" capability. I scan the document, and
Windows XP Fax Console sends the fax, but it always sends an extra
blank page. If I do not need to use the scanner, i.e. I fax a file from
my computer, there is no extra page.

So how exactly are you invoking the Windows XP Fax Service and from what
application?

That would be something involving Epson's "scan to fax" application; your
best bet is to contact Epson and see if they have an update for this
application that eliminates the extra blank page it sends.

The Epson program invokes the Windows XP Fax Service. After Epson scans
the document, it invokes the XP Send Fax Wizard. I fill in the
appropriate telephone number, either choose a cover page or no cover
page, and send the fax. if I choose cover page and my document is one
page long, the fax will consist of 3 pages. If I choose no cover page
the fax will consist of 2 pages. In either case an extra last page that
is blank except for the "banner" is transmitted. "Banner" being the one
line entry showing the date and time and fax numbers.

I called Epson technical, and they said I should contact Microsoft. I
e-mailed Microsoft, but because my Windows XP is "group installed" they
won't help me.

Cannot repro this with Windows XP Fax.
