Default Conditional Formatting Access 2007

I am using conditional formatting for the backcolor on some controls in the
detail section of the report. When I view the report in Print Preview, the
backcolor does not appear. When I view the report in Report View and click on
the control, the backcolor appears. When I click on the next control, that
backcolor appears but the previous one reverts to white/transparent. What am
I doing wrong?
