Default Create A Conditional Formatting Error Message

I have two dates in a form (start & end) running from one pop-up calendar
(Access 2003). I can use conditional formatting so that the end date changes
font etc if endstart.

Ideally, I want an error message to appear on the screen if endstart and
the user has to click 'OK' and this then empties the end date so that they
have to re-enter.

Useless with scripts etc!!!
Cheers
