!How do you sort Contacts by last name when clicking "To" in an em
I have walked through all the steps to instruct contacts to "File As" by
"Last, First" both globally and on an individual contact basis. Still, when I click "To" or "Cc" in an email, the Select Names dialog box continues to sort by first name - even when I change the "Display as" on the email address to list the last name before the first. I'm using Outlook 2002 with Windows XP professional. Thanks for any help you can provide. - Steve Caro |

Choose Tools | Email Accounts View or change existing directories or
address books. Select Outlook Address Book, then click Change. You'll see choices for using First Last or the File As field. -- Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for Administrators, Power Users, and Developers http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx "Steve Caro" wrote in message ... Sue,
I tried the corrective measures you outlined in this post and it still is displaying the contact list by first name, even after selecting to sort by last name, first name. Boy this new Outlook is worse than the Outlook 2000 which I left behind. At least there, once you made a correction it saved it and displayed it the way it was saved. Any help on this with Windows XP running Office XP? Jerry Atencio "Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Choose Tools | Email Accounts View or change existing directories or address books. Did you ever get a reponse to help you with this problem. I also see a
completely different list from the one I have edited when I go directly into contacts. Also using Outlook 2002 and even after changing my settings as described
above to display last, first and restarting, contacts are still displayed as first last. Any idea of why it will not sort properly? Many thanx. -- J.T. There is no information in your post. State what settings you changed. State
what view you are trying to sort. Changing settings for derived fields will not affect existing Contacts, only new ones. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "JTKiser1022" wrote in message ...
