Default Contacts into Address Book - Outlook 2002

Sue, all is much better but another problem has occured... When I try to organize by clicking on the button, I get an error message and I can not enter a rule. If I use the the rules wizard, that works but if I use organize without the wizard, no go... Any ideas, maybe this file is corrupted to? I am asking a similar question to Dave because both of you replied to me, OK

Thanks, Joe

I am embarrassed... I don't know if Sue Mosher's suggestion or Chuck Davis's suggestion solved the problem but when I closed outlook and re-opened it a few minutes later, everything worked... address book, To: in an email and all is well,,, Thanks, Joe

Hi Sue, thanks for the reply... I did the following: Choose Tools | Email Accounts View or change existing directories or address books and the message "Address list could not be displayed..." pops up as before and when the I clicked on OK, an Address Book popup comes up and under Show Names From... there were four listings ie. Outlook Address Book and Contacts three times. From previous attempts, I knew that there was nothing in the first two listings so I deleted the first and second Contacts but when I tried you suggestion again, this time only Outlook Address Book was listed... Still no address book and I also posted a reply to Chuck Davis's reponse that you might find interesting... Thanks, Joe

The Outlook Address Book displays the electronic addresses from your
Contacts folder. Choose Tools | Email Accounts View or change existing
directories or address books. If you don't see the Outlook Address Book
there, add it.

If you do see it there, tell us what happens when you open the address book.

Hi... I have gone from Windows 2000/Outlook 2000 to another machine with
Windows XP/Outlook 2002. After many tries to import my contacts by backing
up files to CD's and copying them to the new HD, I found out about the
hidden files, access rights, etc. and finally was able to get my emails into
Outllook 2002 but I cannot access the Address book. Outlook.pst is the file
name copied over but I am at a total loss as to what to from here. Nothing
I read seems to help as there is some link between outlook.pst, personal
folders.pst and contacts but I cannot find an adequate explanation to help
me. HELP HELP
I can't enter new contacts either and I sure don't want to lose my
emails... Any ideas???

I'd suggest that you start a new discussion topic in the
microsoft.public.outlook.general group about your rule problem and include
the exact text of the error message. Don't forget to mention your version of
Outlook, too.

Thank you very much Woodchuck,
I did the Export/Import and worked fine.

*Thanks Chuck but no go yet... I did the following: File/Import &
Export/Export to a file/Create - Tab Separated Values
(Windows)/Export from/Personal Folders/Contacts and it did its thing
into another directory. I then File/Import & Export/Import from
another file/Import - Tab Separated Values (Windows)/Import into:
Outlook Today/Contacts and it did its thing but no change. Emails
are still in place but the popup "Address list could not be
displayed..." comes up just like before... no change.

The process should be to EXPORT the Contacts to a
