problems viewing italicized text in word
A co-worker has a unique problem that began within the past 10 days...
She is unable to view certain letters (primarily "s") when words are italicized. She has received two different documents from two different people. Other people who've received the same documents aren't experiencing the problem. She has even had some of these same people email their copies of the document - same result - some italicized letters missing! She forwarded one of the documents to me and I did NOT have any problems with it. Thoughts? Details: XP Pro Word 2002 SP2 Thanks! |

That's correct...only on her machine...
Update - appears to only happen with Times New Roman (her favorite font) inconsistently ...won't print out properly either. She has already uninstalled and then reinstalled WORD; no luck. Thinking about deleting and then reinstalling Times New Roman font...?? AL "Charles Kenyon" wrote in message ... Try her printer driver first. See if there is an updated one on the web.

So, on one machine the letter "italic small s" is "missing" from
supposedly good documents? (Does "missing" mean that the space is blank, or that the word has closed in where the s ought to be?) It happens only to one font (TNR) and only to italics? Sure sounds like a broken font file. I would delete the font and reinstall. The font ought to be in something like C:\WINNT\FONTS, depending on OS version. The file names for TNR italic and bold italic are TIMESI.TTF and TIMESBI.TTF To get replacements, look around on the Windows or Office install disks, or just copy from another machine. To install go to the fonts directory (C:\WINNT\FONTS or whatever) in Windows Explorer (not IE) and use File | Install New Font. Bob S |
