Default Merge and Center Problems

Has anyone experienced problems with the Merge and Center
feature in Excel? If so...what are they? I was told to
avoid this feature because it interferes with other things
I may want to do on the worksheet. So far I haven't
encountered any. Is there any merit to this claim??

I am one of those who have been avoiding this method. The main reason is it wouldn't let you insert, delete, cut or paste a column between merged columns. You could use the "Center Across Selection" in cell formatting diabox which allows you to do all that while serves the same purpose.

Lynn

Have you tried cutting, copying, pasting, sorting, filtering with merged
cells?

Experiment a bit and you'll soon find why the caveat to not use the merged
cells feature.
