fixmapi.exe issues

I have just reinstalled Office XP Professional and Service Pack 3, plus all
the little updates. During installation of both Office and SP3, I received
several error messages similar to the following:

C:\Windows\system32\fixmapi.exe
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
[numbers and letters, blah, blah] Choose CLOSE to terminate the application.

I clicked "IGNORE" several times, and kept getting another message, so I
chose CLOSE and the installation finished.

Please tell me if this is something that is going to come back on me, or if
it is nothing to be concerned about. If I should be concerned, then what
should I do?
