I am not sure I understand what checking mark, you can see the problem if
you have two shapes in one layer and you want to move it from layer one to layer two, if you use the select - format - layer you add it to layer two but you did not delete it from layer one. a shape can be on multiple layers simultaneously, it depends on what layers
are checked on the panel. al "Ami" wrote in message news I am not sure I understand what checking mark, you can see the problem if you have two shapes in one layer and you want to move it from layer one to layer two, if you use the select - format - layer you add it to layer two but you did not delete it from layer one. Layers in Visio
Sorry but you did not answer my question, I don't want it to be on both
layers, I want to delete it from layer one and move it to layer two. My qestion how can I move it from one layer to the other. you assign it to the layer you want and un-assign it from the layers that
you do not want it to be on. It's not a copy function, it's an assign function.... To accomplish this you put a check mark at the layers you want it in and make sure there is not check mark for the layers you do not want it in. al "Ami" wrote in message ... Layers in Visio
To say it a different way, a shape is added to a page and the layer property
controls which layers the shapes appear with. So you do not really add a shape to a layer, the shape is already there and the layer property determines if the shape is visible. John... Layers in Visio
I think Al is giving you directions to change the layer shape is assigned to
(View Format Layer). To also change if that layer (layer 2) is visible, go to View Layer Properties and add or clear the check mark in the Visible column for that layer. I hope that helps!
