Default Assigning date to new task created in To-do Bar

I'm using Outlook 2007 on Vista Business. When I use the To-Do Bar to
create a new Task, it assigns no date. Is there a way to change it so
that it assigns today's date to all new tasks?

you'll need to open the form to assign a date - Ctrl+N or the new button.

Thanks very much for your reply. Are you sure that there is not some
automatic way to do this? I ask because I recently switched computers,
and so re-installed everything, and am reasonably sure that on my old
computer, new tasks created at the To-do Bar had today's date by for
start and due dates by default.

Thanks,
Tom

Were you using Outlook 2007 on that system? You can assign the date if you
use the new task row (in the tasks folder) - if you pull the to-do pane in
to make it wider, the date field may be also visible as the date field is
visible when they view changes from the compact view that uses two lines to
the single line view. You can change the width needed to switch between
single and compact views by r-clicking on the row of field names and
choosing customize view. It's under other settings. Default is either 80 or
100 but you can set it to any number or disable it completely. Note that
when its too small the fields will show just a character or two.
