Publisher 2007 (12.0.6017.5000)

How do I get rid of the "format Publication" menu when opening a document in
publisher from My Docs? The same annoying thing happens when I open Publisher
itself. In the options menu I've de-selected what i believed to be the
appropriate box.

Any and all help appreciated!

==================================
Just close the Task Pane by typing Ctrl+F1

If the task pane was closed when you saved
your document...it should be closed when you
go to My Documents and double click the .pub
file to re-open it.

Publisher should open with your Document
displayed and the task pane should be closed.

That is not correct, John. At least it isn't for me. The task pane is always
there. One can minimize it to very small and drag it to a part of the screen
where it isn't in the way. It will be in this spot the next time Publisher is
opened. Of course it can be closed in the current publication, but it will be
back when Publisher is opened again.

Hmmmm, it works for me. If I save a
document with the task pane closed....
it's closed when I re-open the document.

I currently have 2002, 2003 and 2007
installed and it works in all three.

Try these steps...
Open Pub2007...
Close the Task Pane...
Save the file...
Close Pub 2007...
Re-open the file...

I think I must have a weird version of Publisher. The task pane isn't open with
2002 or 03, but it sure is in 07. There have been other folks with this problem
posting here.

Did you ever solve the status bar problem?

I have saved all sorts of publications with the task pane closed, it is back
when I re-open the file.

I wonder why I can open the files with
the task pane closed?

My Pub2007 status bar is still broken.

I've double-clicked documents going back to 97, they all open with 2007. Even
after I save them again with the task pane closed, I still have the task pane
when I re-open them. Maybe it will be fixed in the first service pack.

If you read this John, what is your version of Publisher? Mine is 12.0.6023.5000
(MSO) 12.0.6017.5000

Perhaps. Perhaps it is the way he is opening the files by double clicking the
file in My Docs. I can't do that as I have Pub 2000 set as my default for Pub
files.
