Default why message "no text converter for outline"?

WHen trying to open a PowerPoint created by someone else, I receive a message
that no text converter is installed for the outline and the file will not
open. Using PowerPoint 2007 and Vista

Moon,
I'm guessing you want to open a file created with an earlier version. See:

This is a perfectly plausible response, but when I follow links to the Update
page, I am told that no update exists.
