I'm trying to reinstall office from my CD, but received an error message
stating that the install could not be completed because file IU561401.CAB is
missing. Where can I find the file to install on my machine. Thank you!

Are you trying to install Office from a DVD/ROM drive.
Try installing from a normal cd rom drive.

Sharath, does that really make a difference, I am curious? The drive my
husand and I used is the same drive we always use when installing programs
and have never had a problem before. So to answer your question, I would
guess we used the CD Rom drive and not a DVD Rom. I will attempt another
method and will let you know thos results. What does the file file
IU561401.CAB do and why can't I find it? Thank you for replying to my
question.

I am having the same exact problem. ...one of my friends randomly is
having the same problem. This happened after reinstalling Windows XP
via the partition on my laptop. Then trying to reinstall MS office
Standard Edition 2003. I've tried changing the memory settings as one
google answer suggested, I've checked the drivers. HELP!! I really
don't know what to do. I don't want to go to best buy and have to pay
the geeks to do this. I am more pc literate and smarter than that, and
really can't afford to at the moment... but I really cannot spend
another 50hours trying to install one simple program. IF ANYONE has any
SUGGESTIONS... please REPLY.
Thank you so much!!!!
Melissa

Sounds like you have a corrupted local installation cache. The easiest way
to fix is to uninstall all office family products. Once this is done, the
hidden folder named MSOCache at the root of hard drive should have been
removed. If it isn't, you can use the LISTool from Microsoft to
clean/delete the folder.

Now that the MSOCache folder is gone, install your Office applications and
patch.
