Default looking for a checklist for designing and building a custom house

We are in the process of designing and building a custom home. I have read
that the home buyer should know exactly what he wants in the home before
starting construction, to minimize future problems with budgeting. So I
would like to obtain a checklist of everything that must be considered i.e.
type of windows, type of doorknobs, faucets, lighting fixtures, etc.
Thanx.

To find templates to use in Word, try
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/te...s/default.aspx, or try Google.

Hope this helps.

I think you're asking in the wrong place. I can't imagine that even the
Office Template Gallery would provide such a checklist. It is much more
likely that you could find such a list using Google. For example, the first
hit at
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...o ogle+Search
is http://www.saybuild.com/checklist.html, which offers a series of such
checklists. http://www.homebuildingmanual.com/Page1.htm offers a $49.95
manual, also available as a $69.95 CD-ROM that promises an Excel budget
spreadsheet with over 700 line items. Or see
http://www.askthebuilder.com/B317_Ne...ist.shtml--not
a supplies checklist but a list of very useful questions.

But this is the sort of detail that your contractor should be taking care
of. If you're trying to be your own contractor, see
http://www.homebuildingmanual.com/Training.htm
