Building index sub-entry
Building an index for a book I am having a problem of
crating a sub-entry. I need to be able to have one main index line with sub lines below it for example as the help file says create (subentry: An index entry that falls under a more general heading. For example, the index entry "planets" could have the subentries "Mars" and "Venus.") and or by create a cross-reference to another entry Can you help me nid out how to do this or see an example. Building index sub-entry
If you're using the Insert Index Mark Entry dialog, just type the
main entry in the first box and the subentry in the second box. When you click the Mark button, it will insert a field in the document that looks like this: { XE main entry:subentry } The colon is the signal to Word that what follows is a subentry. You can enter similar fields manually instead of with the dialog, using Ctrl+F9 to insert the field braces and then typing the field code. To do this you must show nonprinting characters by clicking the ¶ button, because XE fields are automatically marked as Hidden text. -- Regards, Jay Freedman http://aspnet2.com/mvp.ashx?JayFreedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://www.mvps.org/word "Baha" wrote: Building an index for a book I am having a problem of crating a sub-entry.
